A fantastic, heart-warming story of three sisters who are gathering again for the first time since their mother passed away two years ago. This time it's for more joyous a reason - middle sister Emma is getting married! Emma and youngest sister Amy, who normally lives in Canada, are returning to their old family home Meadowbank Cottage which their oldest sister Kirsty is running as a B&B with her husband.  Emma is super laid back about the wedding arrangements but has some important news to share with her husband to be before the big day. Kirsty also has some news to share. Expect lots of smiles, and some tears, but still a fabulous book. Perfect summer read! PS. I've already looked up the Isle of Arran as a holiday destination. When Christmas is no longer your thing and you don't want to be the Debbie Downer ruining the season for everyone, then you book yourself a cottage in a secluded space and prepare to hunker down throughout the "festive" season. However, when someone else has exactly the same plan and end up at the same cottage as you, suddenly the "alone at Christmas" no longer is a possibility. I love how Rose and Charlie awkwardly cope with the situation, sending text messages and leaving notes for each other in the kitchen - all in an effort to allow the other one to be alone.  As the story develops the many layers of the characters come to life and it's easy to get invested in their wellbeing and cheering them on! There is happiness, but also sadness in this story and some parts may be better read in privacy than on the commute... I highly recommend this Christmas story, even in April!! #ThisChristmas #NetGalley

This book sounded interesting and unusual with the mixture of real persons and their guardian angels, and some nasty demons set on causing havoc. I was also looking forward to a story set in warmer climates than what we're experiencing in the United Kingdom at the moment (with the first snow falling today). The first few chapters where slow going, but definitely needed, as the author was introducing the many characters in the holiday village. Once all the persons and their angels had been introduced, and we've learnt what each of them contribute to village life, the story took off. Greed, envy and self disbelief all feature, but the angels do their best to lighten the mood by encouraging their wards to believe in themselves and care for others.  In the end I was left with a positive feeling and perhaps a little kick up the back to not just "plod along".
