LETHAL ACTION is the ninth book in the Mason Sharpe thriller series by Logan Ryles - it's another corker! Something is not as it should be in Prairie Junction, Iowa, and Mason Sharpe's internal warning signals are ringing loud and clear.  Suddenly a swarm of choppers and trucks descend on the sleepy town and everyone is told to stay indoors whilst the town is put under complete lockdown with roadblocks restricting movements. As we know from previous escapades, Sharpe is not one to sit and wait, so he starts investigating. After witnessing a murder of a local man, it's clear that something big is happening.  Sharpe is soon calling in a favour from an old friend who is now in a position of power within central government.  Working together to outsmart the bad guys and trying to figure out what is actually happening we are treated to an action packed and intelligent thriller in true Sharpe style.  Highly recommended! #LethalAction #netgalley

Lainey Davis delivers again. I am a huge fan of all her Stag books, and you can never go wrong with a sports theme.  In this story, I love how Wes calls out and fights what's wrong to support the woman he loves - even risking his own career.  The second-chance romance between Cara and Wes, and their professional sporting endeavours makes this a fab story.  Forging Glory will be available on 19 December 2023, but can be preordered now. I requested this book to widen my general knowledge of communication strategies in a crisis situation, and as expected this book delivers! Coleman has included lots of examples and lists of things to do at the various stages of a crisis, but the strongest message throughout the book (at least to me) is TO PREPARE!!! Don't wait until a crisis has occurred to figure out what to do. Also, ensure that all key people and departments are involved in the preparation of the strategies. This increases awareness and creates buy-in. The second key message that I picked up, is that to successfully manage a crisis the focus needs to be on PEOPLE! They know that something has happened, so don't try to deny the crisis. In today's social media intense reality, news of the crisis will travel fast! Thirdly, share as much information as possible - start with the mindset that everything can and should be shared with those affected by the crisis (victims), employees, stakeholder and media.  All...

The Russia Leak: A White House hopeful is a real page turner! As per the blurb, we encounter the mistress, extortion, espionage, murder and revenge; all mixed up in a tangle of stories and clues, with clever cliff hangers throughout the book making it difficult to put down. The characters are well developed and the insight into the US political system is well researched and very believable - and clearly corrupt.  It's easy to see that Ganaway is passionate about the thriller genre and influenced by some of the best writers including Connelly, Baldacci, Grisham, and Clancy.  Would it be premature to wish that there will be a sequel? #TheRussiaLeakAWhiteHousehopeful #NetGalley

Shadow State is the first book with Nathan Pike as the lead character. Pike is a cryptography and cyber weapons specialist for hire, balancing the fine line between what's right and wrong. I have alway enjoyed McNab's books so when this one popped up in the lists on Netgalley, I immediately downloaded it.  McNab brings the modern world of crypto currencies and computer experts to the war between good and bad; and to wars without military weapons between countries and financial corporations. In a world where governments are no longer in full control, crypto is king. Also, to win, you no longer need muscles or traditional weapons, but instead a brain and a PADD (I'd love one of those!). I thoroughly enjoyed this book and especially the long term game played by Pike; bring on the next one! This book seems to have two different titles: 'Hostile Environments' and ' The Social Distance Between Us: How Remote Politics Wrecked Britain'  This is a MUST read!! A real eye opener and a perfect book to base important discussions on. Yes, the book contains views belonging to certain political camps, but the painstakingly detailed research that has gone into creating this book including a huge number of real life examples make Darren McGarvey and his book forces to be reckoned with. Politicians, policy makers and those who want to, or more importantly can , influence decision making in Britain, should make it a priority to read this book.  The book extensively discusses how proximity is one of the biggest reasons for failure in most of the political system used in Britain today. Poignant story about misjustice in the 1960s, where single mothers could be forced to give up their newborns for adoption.  Anstey Harries has managed to create an amazingly engaging and gripping story with very believable lead characters; it was refreshing reading a story with older leads.  Thoroughly recommended.
