After the cliffhanger ending of Ledge, the first book in the series, Chasm was a must read and thank you to Netgalley for giving me access to an ARC.  Whereas Ledge was all things new and exciting, this was more of the same. The story does develop and we find out more about Dawsyn and Ryon as well as many of the other characters from the first book, but there is not that many surprises or unexpected twists and turns as we were treated to on Ledge.  To me, Chasm comes across as a 'holding book', before, what I am hoping is an unexpected and explosive finale in the final book in the Glacian Trilogy. Fantasy, sci-fi and magic mixed in with romance and some horror! Buchbinder has done her homework and we're treated to an intriguing and fast-paced story which I throughly enjoyed.  According to the authorities, both Charlene's parents committed suicide in a car accident. As a result, 24-year old Charlene is left to care for her brother Joey who is special needs. Unfortunately, as the accident was deemed suicide, there is no insurance money for Charlene to dig into to care for her brother.  Circumstance has it that her Aunt Jessie has left her an apple farm in Eden (Kentucky) - a place her mother always told her to stay well clear of. With money running out, Charlene hasn't really got any other option than to head to Eden.  Charlene lands herself a job driving a school bus for special needs children - all very similar to her brother. Work is made rather interesting as she is attracted to the owner of the company, Zach. As they days go by, Charlene slowly learns about Eden...

Thankfully societal norms have moved on and what is portrayed as 'normal' almost 300 years ago is no longer acceptabel in the marriage bed Title: Outlander (book 1 in the series) Author: Diana Gabaldon This was an interesting first book in the Outlander series, but nowhere near as gripping as e.g. the Games of Thrones series. Saying that, I am intrigued enough to look forward to reading the second book to find out more about Claire and Jamie. I thoroughly enjoyed the historical elements Gabaldon has woven her story around and the many interesting characters she's introduced already in the first book. It's pure genius with the jump back in time 200 years to create a unique story and to allow characters to develop and grow.  I am however surprised at how relaxed Claire seems to be with being separated from her 'modern' husband and how quickly she accepts her 'historical' life and the expectations of how a woman 'should' behave and what they 's...
