You're Kind of a Big Deal by Erin King

Title: You're Kind of a Big Deal: Level Up by Unlocking Your Audacity
Author: Erin King

This is a pep-talk book extra-extraordinaire with über enthusiastic coach Erin King. Mixing humour and real-life examples she's on a mission getting women to unlock their audacity and take their rightful place in today's (still) male dominated world.

Quote from the book: "This book is about preparing, evaluating, and daring to make the decision to turn up your volume, your truth, your bravery, your conviction, your drive, or whatever it is you need in that moment."

The book is full of little nuggets of wisdom to help women be more sure of themselves, take more space, go for what they want. Instead of being beautiful, kind and compassionate (the top three positive traits for women according to a study cited by King) they should be allowed to be a leader, ambitious and strong, just like the top traits for a man in the same study.

Some of Erin King's cracking quotes from the book:

“It’s better to be someone’s shot of whiskey, than everyone’s cup of tea, love.”

"If we follow the advice to listen twice as much as we speak, we risk never getting a word in. We risk not having the opportunity to be heard."

"Why do you need others to love what you’re doing for you to love it?"

“...happy people are happy for people.”

"your chances of happiness skyrocket every time you make a decision to move toward something you know you truly want, versus doing something out of fear that you someday might regret it if you don’t."

With this book you have Erin King as your cheerleader and coach on your journey to a more audacious you.

Embrace the Lace by Shannon MacLeod

Paisley Evangeline Darling (Van for short) attends a renaissance festival in the US, but somehow ends up in a pond in Scotland and is rescued by Andrew MacIver. Not only has she travelled across the world, she's also travelled in time - back to the 17th century. Add in some more low level magic, a nasty uncle and women competing for Andrew's reluctant hand in marriage.  Highly entertaining story with some slow romance and Van getting stuck into her new life and improving operations at Andy's castle.  This book is available now!  PS. I am not really sure what inspired the title of this book. #EmbraceTheLace #NetGalley
