Tam DeRudder Jackson - Books 3 and 4 in the Balefire series

Book 3: Wild for me

This is Dakota and Annabelle's story. It all started with a scorching hot one-night stand two years ago after a Balefire concert. It also ended there when Annabelle left Dakota's room. Both of them have been reliving that night, but never made contact with each other.  At the wedding rehearsal of Jack and Clio (who we met in Book 1) Dakota and Annabelle see each other again and the story takes off from there.

Grumpy Garrett is back causing tension and stirring things up in his usual way.

Quick and easy read allowing you to escape for a few hours.

Book 4: Hot for me

Finally Adam Tron gets to meet a girl, or rather a strong willed independent woman matching him in all areas. A superstar in her own rights, Cristy joins Balefire on their tour and things get hot.

Grumpy Garrett is back and we also meet Cristy's manager Gretchen who's keeping a tight leash on her, causing enormous frustrations for Adam Tron.

Again an enjoyable easy flowing read by DeRudder Jackson completing the story of the four band members of Balefire. I thought this would be the last in the series, or possibly followed by a 'retrospective and now' story about their first drummer, but apparently their manager Garrett is getting his own story in Book 5.

PS. There is a Book 5

Book 5, Stay with me, is due in the autumn/fall of 2022 and this is described as Garrett's redemption. Not sure he deserves a book on his own but let's see...

Thanks to NetGalley for these two eARCs in exchange for honest reviews.

The Harbour Lights Mystery by Emylia Hall

Lovely, laid back off-season Cornwall is the scene for The Harbour Lights Mystery written by Emylia Hall. It's the second book about the Shell House Detectives, but you can read it standalone (although you may like it as much as I did and read the first book in the series afterwards!). December in Cornwall and there are probably more locals than tourists attending when the famous Christmas lights are turned on in Mousehole harbour.  Ally, one half of the Shell House Detectives, is watching the lights with her friend Gus and she's worrying that he may be after more than friendship. Anything that was about to be said is abruptly stopped when there is a piercing scream ripping through the darkness. Joining the crowds, Ally finds out that someone has been brutally murdered and dumped in a fisherman’s boat. It turns out that the victim is the not so very popular chef JP Sharpe, but what has Ally and her detective partner intrigued is an unfinished letter found in Sharpe's coat p...

For the Love of Coffee by Fiona Woodifield

Romilly is dreaming of something better but is not quite sure what that might be. All she knows is that remaining in her marriage is not where she wants to be. She decides to take her two daughters and run away from it all.  Finding a safe haven in Melstock, her childhood holiday place, she tries to create a new life. She lands a job at the coffee factory where she rather quickly suggests improvements to their marketing and profitability, but it turns out that the owners are adamant on selling. Mark Whittaker, the rather two-faced and abrupt owner of the local country estate and all-round in charge of the area, takes an interest in Romilly in his own eccentric ways. In typical family life, one of the daughters is being bullied at school and the other one has a teacher who's downright hostile to Romilly. Navigating all the new challenges, including her ex who keeps popping up, Romilly has plenty on her plate. This is a feel-good story with a HEA for all of those who love close-knit ...
