Look What You Made Me Do by Katherine A. Olson

We need some real-life Dylan Trumans exacting revenge on those who deserve it! After a horrific incident Dylan became Lady Justice, a professional vigilante who's exacting revenge on those scumbags who deserve it be it cheaters, bullies, swindlers or others. When she's contacted to exact revenge on Brent Wilder, a billionaire and decorated hero it suddenly gets personal. Brent is the one who ruined Dylan's sister's life.  Amazingly well written, faced paced, and humours all in one package. Never has revenge felt sooooo good! #LookWhatYouMadeMeDo #NetGalley

Resiting Jax by Calia Quinn

Lots of content warnings on this book! The first part of the story really hooks you in as it is extremely well written, engaging and beautifully paced.  The second half of the story goes really dark and sinister rather quickly. It is HOT in places, but also somewhat repetitive and (in my view) unnecessarily dark. It felt like a book of two halves. At the time of writing this review, the following content warnings were shared on the author's website: Breath play; kidnapping; violence; strong sexual themes; trauma; close proximity; close impact play; grief; psychological trauma, dub-con, non-con, torture, knife-play, grief.  LINK This title will be released on October 23, 2023. #ResistingJax #NetGalley

Fire Team by Logan Ryles

Fire Team by Logan Ryles is the fourth book in the series about Mason Sharpe. I had not read the previous three but decided to give this title a go when it came up on Netgalley. It works well as a stand-alone, even though I at some times felt like I was missing some of the back story.  Mason is at the bank to sort out his affairs, when someone shouts “Ladies and gentlemen, this is a robbery!”. They are all forced down on the floor as one of the robbers heads to the vault. Leaving, the robbers carry only a small bag and also grabs two hostages - Mason and a woman who was on the floor next to him. There's just something with the whole event which doesn't sit right with Mason and his brain is working overtime trying to figure it out. It turns out that the two bank robbers are veterans from the same Army Ranger Regiment as Mason served in. As he starts asking questions he finds himself changing sides to that of the robbers to unearth years of cover-ups, deception and fraud high up ...

Unbroken by Samantha Wilde

I have been hooked on the Blood Brothers books since I stumbled upon the first one on Netgalley in 2021. Fast paced, bad boys, mafia, corrupt police and strong capable women. If you haven't read them all, I recommend that you do; you're in for a treat! I thought MARKED, the fifth book in the series was going to be the last one, but the ending said differently, and here we are almost a year later -- the sixth book in the series -- UNBROKEN. It sure delivers!! Savannah is the mafia princess her father wants to protect at all costs, although she's fighting against his domineering control every step of the way. It gets even worse when she's told she needs to go away for a week with a 'babysitter' from Backcountry Protection Services. Toth has very reluctantly accepted the assignment to protect Savannah - he said no repeatedly, but that was exactly what made him the perfect man for the job! Fighting to keep Savannah safe and keeping his own feelings under wraps, this...

For the Love of Coffee by Fiona Woodifield

Romilly is dreaming of something better but is not quite sure what that might be. All she knows is that remaining in her marriage is not where she wants to be. She decides to take her two daughters and run away from it all.  Finding a safe haven in Melstock, her childhood holiday place, she tries to create a new life. She lands a job at the coffee factory where she rather quickly suggests improvements to their marketing and profitability, but it turns out that the owners are adamant on selling. Mark Whittaker, the rather two-faced and abrupt owner of the local country estate and all-round in charge of the area, takes an interest in Romilly in his own eccentric ways. In typical family life, one of the daughters is being bullied at school and the other one has a teacher who's downright hostile to Romilly. Navigating all the new challenges, including her ex who keeps popping up, Romilly has plenty on her plate. This is a feel-good story with a HEA for all of those who love close-knit ...

A Daughter's Promise by Judy Summers

A Daughter's Promise is described as a new festive winter saga for 2023. Set in Liverpool in 1861 we are treated to a historical novel with a strong female lead seeking her own independence but also looking out for those less fortunate than herself. Annie is 14 years old and desperately wants to create her own life rather than being stuck helping her older sister Delilah around the home. Unexpectedly, Annie gets her chance when her old friend Clara comes for a visit. Clara has been working at the cotton mill outside town for a while and Annie is lured by her tales and the possibility of making her own money. Arriving at the mill Annie is put to work, hard work, and soon learns that money is the driver for the mill owners and children as young as young as eight are working at the mill.  With events in the US affecting the supply of cotton to Europe, Annie, Clara and the other workers are suddenly fighting for their jobs. The mill owners are keeping the younger workers on (as they co...

Road Queens by MaryJanice Davidson

I downloaded this book from Netgalley back in August and read about 15% of it before I gave up and jumped onto another book. Since then I have read another 20+ books without coming back to finish this one off. I may come back to it at some point, but most likely not as there are so many other books out there.  Please see below the blurb from the publishers: "From the bestselling author of the Undead series comes a ride through the lives of three estranged friends as they’re reunited by murder (possible frame job) and mayhem (just the way they like it). Operation Starfish has one goal: to remove domestic violence survivors from danger. But when a mission backfires in tragedy, the band of bikers who founded OpStar dissolves the organization and their ride-or-die friendship. Five years later Amanda, Sidney, and Cassandra are brought back together by the same thing that tore them apart when the man who victimized his wife is murdered, and all signs point to Cassandra. Circumstances be...

The Wrong Guy by Lauren Landish

Wren and Jesse are working together to try to stop some high-profile divorce proceedings to ruin their town. In the process they have to come to terms with the fact that their friends-with-benefits arrangement may be something more. Jesse is a no-nonsense construction worker and in my view the most rememberable character in this story. Wren on the other hand seemed a bit ditsy despite being the city attorney; her mentor/ predecessor on the other hand is a right character!! Some clever twists and turns, but a lot of unnecessary spice, including the beginning of the book, detracts from what could have been an amazing story.  The Wrong Guy by Lauren Landish will be available on 12 December 2023, but you can preorder it now.  #TheWrongGuy #NetGalley
