Finding a safe haven in Melstock, her childhood holiday place, she tries to create a new life. She lands a job at the coffee factory where she rather quickly suggests improvements to their marketing and profitability, but it turns out that the owners are adamant on selling.
Mark Whittaker, the rather two-faced and abrupt owner of the local country estate and all-round in charge of the area, takes an interest in Romilly in his own eccentric ways.
In typical family life, one of the daughters is being bullied at school and the other one has a teacher who's downright hostile to Romilly. Navigating all the new challenges, including her ex who keeps popping up, Romilly has plenty on her plate.
This is a feel-good story with a HEA for all of those who love close-knit communities and second chances.
