Fowl Play by Cassandra Medcalf

FOWL PLAY by Cassandra Medcalf is part of the shared Tuft Swallow world series, with stories written by seven different authors.

Cornhole, I had never heard of this "sport", but apparently it's a BIG thing in Tuft Swallow, so much so that you need to practise repeatedly during the week and hours at a time - all for a game where you toss a little bag towards a target...

Kodi, The Ice Queen, is the cornhole captain and a right slave driver, pushing the team  through their gruesome training sessions.

Brian is the new-to-town chiropractor who's outed as gay during his first week. Working with Kodi to move the focus from his recently failed relationship, their fake relationship is soon not so fake.

Lily is THE BEST FRIEND EVER, it's just a shame Kodi is so tied up in her own struggles to see it. Everyone needs a Lily!

In similar style as That's Cockatoo Much by Kristin MacQueen, there is plenty of (somewhat) corny bird related names and puns!! Unfortunately there wasn't much of Hot Daddy or Winston in this story. I hope they both return!

I'm looking forward to the rest of the series to find out more about this adorable town! The books in the Tuft Swallows series are;

  • That's Cockatoo Much - Kristin MacQueen (print 20 April 2024, ebook 7 May 2024)
  • Tit Me With Your Best Shot - Chantal Roome
  • Flock and Roll - Vicki Hilton
  • Don't Give A Cluck - Karigan Hale
  • FOWL PLAY - Cassandra Medcalf (2 July 2024)
  • This Is Hawkward - Joelle Evans
  • No Egrets - Susan Renee

The books will be released throughout May to August.

Fowl Play: A Small Town Sports Romance, is coming out July 2, 2024.

Embrace the Lace by Shannon MacLeod

Paisley Evangeline Darling (Van for short) attends a renaissance festival in the US, but somehow ends up in a pond in Scotland and is rescued by Andrew MacIver. Not only has she travelled across the world, she's also travelled in time - back to the 17th century. Add in some more low level magic, a nasty uncle and women competing for Andrew's reluctant hand in marriage.  Highly entertaining story with some slow romance and Van getting stuck into her new life and improving operations at Andy's castle.  This book is available now!  PS. I am not really sure what inspired the title of this book. #EmbraceTheLace #NetGalley
