Christmas Cancellation by Evie James

Noelle is heading back to her hometown to find out what her aunt has left her in her will. She's leaving it 'til last minute and in true Christmas story style, bad weather cancels her flights.

Completely distraught, she lets out her frustration on the Captain Kol Vinter. Against his better judgement, he offers to drive Noelle to her destination, it's close to where he is going. What could go wrong?

It has all the tropes as listed in the blurb of the book: Holiday, Forced Proximity, One Bed, Opposites Attract, Return to Small Hometown, Blizzard, Afraid to Commit, Not Who I Thought You Were, Pilot, Horse Girl, Possessive Man, Sassy Girl.

Enjoyable, quick, read.

Christmas Cancellation by Evie James is currently scheduled to publish on 20 November 2024.

The Harbour Lights Mystery by Emylia Hall

Lovely, laid back off-season Cornwall is the scene for The Harbour Lights Mystery written by Emylia Hall. It's the second book about the Shell House Detectives, but you can read it standalone (although you may like it as much as I did and read the first book in the series afterwards!). December in Cornwall and there are probably more locals than tourists attending when the famous Christmas lights are turned on in Mousehole harbour.  Ally, one half of the Shell House Detectives, is watching the lights with her friend Gus and she's worrying that he may be after more than friendship. Anything that was about to be said is abruptly stopped when there is a piercing scream ripping through the darkness. Joining the crowds, Ally finds out that someone has been brutally murdered and dumped in a fisherman’s boat. It turns out that the victim is the not so very popular chef JP Sharpe, but what has Ally and her detective partner intrigued is an unfinished letter found in Sharpe's coat p...

EVEREST: Being Unstoppable by Sean Swarner

I’m going to do my best to overcome this crappy situation. Some things may be out of my control, but I’m going to do my best to control what I can… my thoughts! Title: EVEREST: Being Unstoppable (Book One of the 7 Summits to Success Series) Author: Sean Swarner Inspirational self-help book written by adventurer and cancer survivor Seam Swarner, with practical steps outlined by Lance Snow.  I read this book after having taken part in one of Swarmer's online talks and Q&A sessions and I really enjoyed finding out more about his journey; and how he already early on in life had the mindset of keeping going and always looking for the positives.  Parts I and II Parts I and II of the book are Swarner's story of his early childhood through to reaching the top of Mount Everest. The book starts with the following quote by Swarner; “We should not worry about dying. We should worry about not living a life that matters.”   Swarner tells a truly inspirational and uplifting st...

Wedding Ring by Emilie Richards

When you are family but don't really know each other... Title:  Wedding Ring Author:  Emilie Richards An inspiring tale of three generations of women from the same family; one fiercely independent older lady, a super busy socialite and a young mother who's had her share of heart break and crying.  Due to circumstances outside their control, the three women are forced to spend the summer together and work towards a common goal.  From time to time the book was really tough reading and sometimes I wished the characters had realised what was right in front of them, but all in all a very enjoyable escape from daily life.  “Do you ever think that dying isn’t the worst thing that happens to us? That being left behind is the real blow?”  Wedding Ring is the first in the Shenandoah Album series .
