Title: Twelve Golden Threads: Lessons for successful living from Grama’s quilt

Author: Aliske Webb

Depending on your background and stage in life, you may enjoy it as a pure fiction book or as a tongue-in-cheek self-help book bringing clarity to some of the common buzz words used in many management books.

The book sets out twelve lessons for how to create a successful and fulfilling life, using quilting as a metaphor.

The twelve golden threads are:

  1. Make a commitment
  2. Set a goal
  3. Plan your work and work your plan
  4. Always do quality work
  5. Take responsibility and be response-able
  6. Make learning a lifelong habit
  7. Cooperate
  8. Contribute and make a difference
  9. Persevere through the though times
  10. Communicate effectively
  11. Live with integrity
  12. Celebrate life

There is also a golden needle, which you'll find out if you read the book.

The book is FULL of great little life lessons, memorable sayings and intriguing ideas for how you can make your life more meaningful to others as well as to yourselves.

The Pucking Proposal by Lauren Landish

Pre-game rituals must be taken seriously, even when they seem completely outrageous - and indecent!  Hilariously believable.  Hockey trope. Brother's best friend. Playing to win. Pub Date: 18 Feb 2025 Part of Maple Creek series #ThePuckingProposal #NetGalley

Den som dödade helvetets änglar by Jan Guillou

"Den som dödade helvetets änglar by Jan Guillou" - freely translated as " The one who killed the angels in hell". A bit late to reading this, but what a treat!!!  His language is beautiful, the connections to true events and living people are spot on, and the criticism of governments thought-provoking and necessary in a democratic-ish society.  Written in a completely different style to his other Hamilton and Ponti books i loved this one! I’ve already got the next one downloaded and will hopefully be in for another treat.  This book is so far only available in Swedish - unfortunately similar to most of Guillou's fabulous books!
